October 16: CV Humanitarian Center Service Project

On Wednesday October 16 at 6:30 p.m. there is a joint Rotary service project at the Cache Valley Humanitarian Center. We will be joined by the Cache Valley Morning Club and Brigham City Club. Please come to help on the project(s) Dwight and Kay Whittaker have planned for the evening. Let's show we are People of Action.

The Cache Valley Humanitarian Center is in the north building at Riverwoods Conference Center, 595 Riverwood Parkway, Room #130, Logan.

October 24: Utah Intelligent Electrified Transportation Site Visit

A tour of The Electric Vehicle & Roadway (EVR) Research Facility and Test Track. This is a state-of-the-art center leading advancements in wirelessly charged electric vehicle and roadway technologies. The EVR is ideal for the design and control of power electronics, with core objectives that include optimizing efficient machines, inverters, battery life extension, and energy management. A box lunch will be provided.

October 17: Richard Ratliff:—“Political Relationism in Government"

Richard Ratliff is a retired professor at USU in the School of Business. Richard lives in Cache Valley and has written Citizen's Academy for Utah Public Radio.

Challenge Endowment Fund, Logan Rotary Foundation

Logan Rotary Club’s Foundation (501[c][3]) was established to promote, sponsor, and carry out educational, scientific, and charitable purposes and objectives, conducted by, and for the benefit of the Rotary Club of Logan.

In 2022, Rotarian Mark R. Hargreaves anonymously established the Challenge Endowment Fund to provide permanent funding for educational scholarships and educational projects. He provided $50,000 and challenged the Club to match it.

By December 31,2023 the Challenge was exceeded. Over 75 individuals donated $55,298! Thus, the Foundation ended up with an endowment fund of $105,298. This should produce $6,000 to $8,500 each year for the stated purposes.

We thank the many donors who gave to the Challenge.

It was Mark’s intent that the Challenge foster the idea of giving generously to the Foundation, which provides for our educational service projects. It is Rotary’s Four-Way Test in action.

As we greet January 2024, all Happy Dollars donated at our luncheons will go to the corpus of the Foundation, with a goal of reaching $2500 by December 31.2024.
